“Best Ever workshops I have ever attended”
Can’t believe the positive remarks that are resulting from your tutoring of my photos I previously did not how to take
Thank you again and please include me in any other workshops Claire
— Keith, Te Waimate Workshops, Nov 2024
Claire is a knowledgeable and patient teacher who guided me through camera menus I didn’t even know existed. Thanks to her, I now have the confidence to move beyond auto mode and explore the creative possibilities of manual settings. It’s also motivated me to pick up my camera more often. It was SUCH a great day.

Workshops

I run workshops for all ages and specialise in working alongside anyone who wants to move from taking snapshots in “Auto” mode, to working fully in manual mode where you can introduce your own style and creativity into your photography. Workshops are usually run over one day. Workshops are generally locally based in the Kerikeri/Bay of Islands area and we go out on location shoots.

‍ ‍What’s covered in the workshops:

  • Understanding the basics

  • Working in “semi-auto’ modes

  • Working fully in manual

  • Composition

  • Working with Light & Shade

  • Photographing movement.

TAILORED WORKSHOPS

Ideal if you want to work on a particular aspect of your photography, and would love some one to one time.

What’s the cost? I like to run workshops at a really affordable price so we can all get creative! I limit workshops to between 4 and 8 participants (dependant on the workshop). The costs vary for each workshop and depend on the length of the workshop and if there are any ‘extras’ included.

WORKSHOPS

  • Landscape Photography. The Far North gives us access to some truly wonderful and varied landscapes

  • Photographing Horses. This is a great way to combine some difficult photography with movement.

  • Portraiture: Working with studio & natural lighting. A great workshop for winter when we don’t have to worry about what the weather is doing. Learn the basics of working with studio lighting to create both ‘natural’ looking and creative lighting to evoke a mood or feeling. We also incorporate the use of natural lighting.

  • A Cottage Garden - learning how to apply aperture settings when photographing our beautiful flora & fauna.

  • Historic Buildings - photographing in a way that is appropriate to the building.

  • Up-skillling. A short refresher on AV and Shutter Speed, and then moving on to working fully in manual. Limited to 5 participants.

Workshops are hands-on, so we’ll start with a coffee, chat about what we’re going to achieve and then go out and shoot! ‍ ‍
